Economic Relations Between Egypt and Russia: Challenges and Opportunities for Economic Cooperation After 2020

The Russian-Egyptian relations witnessed a qualitative shift after 2020 towards a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, moving beyond traditional military cooperation. This study analyzes the dimensions of this transformation, asserting that the relationship is driven by convergent economic and security interests within the context of an emerging multipolar world order. Cooperation on mega-projects, such as the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the establishment of the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal axis, attests to the depth of this long-term investment partnership. The research also reveals a high level of political and security coordination between Cairo and Moscow concerning vital regional issues, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa. The study concludes that this relationship has demonstrated resilience in the face of global geopolitical challenges, as Egypt seeks to diversify its strategic options while Russia strengthens its influence in a crucial region.
