The European Union Commission adopted the Repower EU plan in response to the Russian war on Ukraine and the accompanying turmoil in the global energy market. The plan targets to confront the climate crisis through the green transition of Europe. It also aims primarily to quickly eliminate dependence on Russian energy by the end of 2022, and reduce dependence on it completely before 2030. This especially crucial since Moscow inclined to utilize energy as an economic and political weapon, which in turn, and annually costs European taxpayers approximately 100 billion Euros
