Abstract

The security dilemma is one of the most important manifestations of international interactions related to the increase in power. The main forces in the system are trying to increase their power in order to influence international interactions. The major powers in the international system want to increase their power in order to survive. And because the security dilemma may lead to regime change due to an increase in power, the threat equilibrium hypothesis can help the dominant power in addressing the situations that may result from the security dilemma. The hegemonic power works to manage the security dilemma through the balance of the threat, as the nature of the imbalance that relates to the hegemony system cannot continue without a room for balance that is based on the threat and not the force, and this helps the continuation of the hegemony system.
