Turkish Military Presence in Northern Iraq and Its Impact on National Security

The Turkish presence in northern Iraq is one of the complex regional files that affect Iraq's national security, especially in light of the continuation of Turkish military operations inside Iraqi territory since the 1990s under the pretext of pursuing elements of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The research examines the reason for this Turkish presence in the territory of Iraq, especially in the northern part of Iraq, and the motives of the Turkish strategy represented in its economic and security interests, and control of strategic areas rich in water and oil resources. In addition to the security repercussions of this presence, which constitutes a violation of Iraq's sovereignty, and the attempt to employ diplomatic and legal tools to limit foreign interventions in a way that preserves national security and Iraqi sovereignty.
