Abstract

The withdrawal of US combat forces from Iraq brought about a qualitative shift in the course of Iraqi-Iranian relations in favor of Iran, with its increasing influence in Iraq, which achieved geopolitical, economic, commercial and security gains for it, which provoked reactions from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is also looking forward to an influential role in the Iraqi political arena. In order to preserve a degree of prestige and influence for it to crowd out the Islamic Republic of Iran and obstruct its political project in Iraq and the Arab region. This study is an attempt to shed light on the course of the Iraqi-Iranian relations after the year 2011 and the impact of the Saudi variable in it represented by the foreign political movement of Saudi Arabia regarding those relations that have reached an advanced level of growth and development in a way that makes the Saudi decision-maker realize the importance of Iraq in the Iranian strategy and the extent of Iranian influence in it And that strengthening the ties between the Iraqi government and Iran negatively affects Saudi Arabia's position, leading to a decline in its regional role on the one hand, and the dangers that this poses to its security and stability on the other hand.
